Welcome to Hooked on Fishing
Hooked on Fishing is a private, not-for-profit organization that provides fishing opportunities for our community. Our passion is helping children, senior citizens, and special needs groups to appreciate the joys of fishing. We primarily work with school groups, scouts, park districts, community groups, churches, special needs groups, nursing homes, and other organizations that provide services for kids, senior citizens, or disabled individuals. All fishing is "catch and release". We provide the equipment and bait.
Our instruction includes:
~The basics of using a rod and reel
~Baiting a hook
~Landing the catch
~Handling the fish
Beyond the basics, we enjoy teaching fish biology, knot tying, fishing ethics, fishing techniques and good fishing sportsmanship. We are happy to work with teachers, scout masters and group leaders to custom design instructional programs that meet their specific educational objectives. Because of the importance of artesian wells in supplying water to our ponds, we can also provide instructions of aquifers, artesian wells, and water quality issues.
Our enthusiastic volunteers are able to provide much one-on-one help, guidance, and instruction to novice anglers.
